Hamels Placed on 10-Day Disabled List, May Miss 8 Weeks

The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that lefty Cole Hamels has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle.

Hamels is expected to be out of action for eight weeks.

The 33-year-old was scratched from his Tuesday start against the Houston Astros when he felt tightness while he was warming up in the bullpen before the start of the game.

He will join the team in Seattle and continue his treatment.

This just the fifth time Hamels has been placed on the disabled list in his career.

Hamels is 2-0 on the season for the Rangers.

Anthony Bass has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and will replace Hamels on the roster.
