Feliz Cool Without Having Closer Title

Neftali Feliz is no longer the Texas Rangers closer, which isn't the first time that move has happened since he joined the club in 2010.

Feliz is now part of a "no-roles" bullpen initiated by manager Jeff Banister, which is basically a way of saying the Rangers haven't had anyone secure those defined bullpen roles — closer, setup man, seventh-inning guy, etc.

He blew his third save of the season over the weekend, which helped prompt the move, and on Sunday, it was Shawn Tolleson pitching the ninth inning for the Rangers in a 5-1 win (not a save situation, but still high-leverage).

“I’m going to work every day to be more consistent; that’s my mentality," Feliz told The Dallas Morning News. "I understand why they did this. Everybody has to be ready to pitch in different situations. I’m fine. I just want to do whatever I can to help the team win the game.”
