Dirty Dirk Tossing Out First Pitch

Dirk Nowitzki, aka Dirty Dirk, aka @swish41, is looking to upstage his NBA brethren tonight when he takes the mound to throw out the first pitch before the Texas Rangers open their series against the New York Mets at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Over the past two weeks, the NBA finals MVP has been the talk of the town and has been on a bit of our a championship tour throughout the city hitting up bars, appearing on radio shows, appearing on Letterman, you know it, Dirk's done it. Now, he's making what will likely be his final public appearance before he heads back to Germany for the summer, where he will likely hit up more bars according to what he told The Hardline on Wednesday on The Ticket.

So will our knight in shining armor succeed tonight? We can only hope he'll do better than Washington Wizards guard John Wall did recently at a Washington Nationals game.

NBA players aren't known for their ability to throw a little ball from 60 feet away, but that was just awful, and Wall's an athletic point guard, not a 7-footer!

So here's a suggestion for Dirk, as the Rangers fans serenade him with "We Are The Champions" he should just set up on the mound and let loose with one of his patented one-legged rainbow fadeaway to a waiting catcher.

Then Dirk can ride off into the sunset with his Finals MVP trophy, and his dignity.
