Darvish Set For Another Rehab Start With Frisco

The road back to Arlington continues for Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish.

Darvish, who is working on coming back from Tommy John surgery, will take the mound for Double-A Frisco Tuesday morning as his rehab assignment continues. The Roughriders travel to Midland for a four-game series this week.

Darvish is scheduled to throw five innings or about 75 pitches in the game. This could possibly be his last rehab start, which would put him on track for a return to the Rangers later this month.

It will be his fourth rehab start this season and the second with Frisco. His last two outings were with Triple-A Round Rock. Darvish threw a total of seven innings, allowed three runs on three hits combined in those starts.

His first rehab start with Frisco was earlier this month, where he tossed a couple of scoreless innings at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

Both Frisco and Round Rock are on the road this week. Round Rock is playing Albuquerque, a high-altitude spot that’s not very helpful towards the breaking pitch. So he’ll instead pitch for Frisco Tuesday morning.

Darvish has through May 31 on his rehab assignment. If needed, he could make one more start, but it’s looking more like a May 27th return against the Pirates in Arlington.
