Darvish Feels Good Facing Hitters for 1st Time Since August

Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish faced hitters for the first time since last August, throwing 30 pitches against teammates during live batting practice Wednesday.

Darvish missed the final seven weeks last season because of right elbow inflammation.

After two bullpen sessions already in Arizona, Darvish said his command felt good with hitters in the batter's box and that he had some power on the ball.

Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux said Darvish was sharp and consistent, and that "guys couldn't square up the ball."

Delino DeShields Jr., Thomas Field and Ed Lucas were the batters who faced Darvish.

Darvish went 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA last season, his third with the Rangers since coming from Japan.
