Braves Sign Ogando to Minor-League Deal

Remember how bright the shining star of Alexi Ogando was just a few years ago?

Remember how he burst on to the scene in 2010 and served as an electric setup man for Neftali Feliz in leading the Rangers to their first World Series appearance? Remember how he made the All-Star Game as a starter in 2011? Remember how he was an incredible relief swing man in 2012? Remember how he began to flame out in 2013 due to arm trouble and just general ineffectiveness?

That all happened.

Ogando signed with the Red Sox last year and posted a 3.99 ERA as a reliever with much worse advanced numbers, pointing to the fact he's just not very good anymore.

Now, he'll get perhaps one more chance to prove that theory wrong as the 32-year-old inked a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday with an invite to big-league spring training.

Back in 2010 and 2011, it would've been hard to envision Ogando signing a minor-league contract in 2015, but that's exactly where we are.
