Beltre's Thumb Still an Issue

You wouldn't have known it by watching Adrian Beltre on Monday night, but his injured thumb is still lingering and the rest over the all-star break really did nothing to alleviate it.

Beltre talked to reporters before Monday's game in Colorado and said he's not sure an extended DL stint or a rehab assignment instead of his unexpected return from the DL on June 23 would have made any difference in how his thumb feels now.

“It didn’t help one bit,” Beltre told reporters before Monday’s game. “I just don’t think if I had waited that it was going to get better. It’s been a month and it’s not better. I’m confused. I don’t know what to do.”

Of course, Beltre went on to have two RBI doubles in the Rangers' dramatic comeback from a 7-0 deficit only to see it end in a Rockies' walkoff in the bottom of the ninth and hit the ball hard on numerous occasions.

The Rangers desperately need production from Beltre, who is in the midst of his worst season as a Ranger, but he's been hitting the ball well and is now hitting .394 over his last eight games, including Monday's loss.
