Beltre Named Silver Slugger for 2011

Just a day after being awarded a Golden Glove, Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been named the winner of the 2011 Silver Slugger Award.

The Silver Sluggers, the best offensive producers in the league, are determined by a vote of MLB coaches and managers.

Beltre ranked among American League leaders in slugging (3rd, .561), homers (T5th, 32), and RBI (T6th, 105), his second consecutive 100-RBI campaign and second career 30-homer effort.

He is now the 8th AL 3B to win the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in the same season and the 5th player in Rangers history to win both in one season, joining Buddy Bell, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira.

Beltre was the only player in the World Series to be named a Silver Slugger in 2011.  It was his third time to win the award.
