Beltre Making Case for that Extension

Adrian Beltre has made it known he would like a contract extension from the Rangers, and the Rangers have made it known they want to future Hall of Famer to end his career in Texas.

The two sides might just be a ways apart as Beltre and his agent, Scott Boras, are seeking a three-year extension worth roughly $16 million a year through his age 40 season. That's not the way business in baseball is usually done. Then again, Beltre is anything but usual.

Days after his 37th birthday, Beltre continued to make a pretty strong case for that extension on Tuesday as he continued a red-hot road trip with a monster game in Seattle in which he drove in five of the Rangers' eight runs with the help of a big three-run homer.

Beltre is now 8-for-21 on the road trip and seven of those hits have gone for extra bases, showing he still is plenty capable of driving the ball. Oh, and he's been playing Hall of Fame defense at third base with consistency this year as he already has a full season's worth of highlights in the first nine games.

So, it makes you wonder: How many times did Boras call Jon Daniels on Tuesday night?
