Beltre, Berkman Nearing Debuts

Better now than in June or July, or September, for that matter.

Better now that the meat of the Texas Rangers' new-look lineup is nursing some injuries and have yet to play in a Cactus League game, as No. 4 hitter and 2012 MVP candidate Adrian Beltre and new Ranger Lance Berkman, who's slated to hit third in the order, are both nursing minor calf injuries and have yet to play in a game this spring.

Both players took part in running drills over the weekend and were reported to be on a good pace, according to Rangers manager Ron Washington.

"They're still going to be slow paced," Washington told ESPN Dallas. "They got out of it well. They felt good. This is by design in making sure Berkman is ready and Beltre as well."
