The Arlington City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday that will allow voters to decide if they want a retractable roof baseball stadium.
The decision means Arlington voters will decide on Nov. 8 – the same day voters will elect the next president of the United States.
If voters approve the new $1 billion stadium, the cost to build it will be split between the Texas Rangers and the city.
The ball club released a statement Tuesday, that reads in part, "The Rangers are excited about the possibility of calling Arlington home for many years to come, and we are committed to building a world-class facility."
Now that a date for the stadium vote is set, opponents vow to defeat this measure at the ballot box.
