Angels Land Former Ranger Fan Favorite

David Murphy is now one of the bad guys, something that might be difficult for lots of Rangers fans to accept.

It was one thing when Murphy left Texas via free agency to sign a deal with the Cleveland Indians. That was the Indians. Who cares about the Indians? Not many folks around here.

Now, he's an enemy. Murphy was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, giving the Halos a platoon option in left field with newly acquired Shane Victorino. The Angels had the worst production from left field in the American League, which is really saying something given the Rangers' struggles in left field this year.

Murphy isn't a blockbuster acquisition, but he's a solid one for the Angels and one that a contending team can make to be put over the edge. He's batting .296 this season with five homers and 27 RBIs.

Former Rangers who head off to Anaheim don't have a good history of fan reception in Arlington upon their return, but Murphy's might be different, at least initially.
