Andrus Miscue Kills Rangers

The Texas Rangers didn't really seem to be in Tuesday's game in Fenway against the struggling Red Sox.

Then, of course, they made a late rally in the later innings, capped by a solo, pinch-hit homer from Leonys Martin in the ninth inning to pull within one run. Naturally, that made us do some back-tracking and some second-guessing.

And it all led back to Elvis Andrus' non-error in the fifth inning. The Red Sox had taken a 3-0 lead earlier in the inning, and with two outs Hanley Ramirez was on third base with Mike Napoli at the plate. Napoli hit a fairly slow bouncer to a charging Andrus, who gloved the ball and then botched the transfer to his throwing hand.

Unless Mike Napoli somehow turned into Delino DeShields, there is no way he beat out a good throw from Andrus. But of course, that throw never came and Napoli was given an infield single to score Ramirez and give Boston a 4-0 lead.

That one run ended up being a pretty big difference in the game, and it should've been Andrus' 10th error of the year which would almost put him on pace for 30 errors this year. Awful, just awful.
