Andrus Hot in Venezuela

Elvis Andrus is swinging the bat pretty well at the moment.

The Texas Rangers shortstop, who is playing winter ball in his home country of Venezuela, went 1-for-2 on Thursday with two walks for Magallanes, who lost 3-0 to Lara to even a best-of-seven series at one game apiece.

So far in the playoffs, Andrus is hitting .367 in 60 at-bats, which is tops in the entire league, made up of several big-leaguers, including Andrus' teammates Pablo Sandoval, Jose Altuve and Juan Rivera.

According to Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News, Andrus told reporters before Thursday's game that he will stay with Magallanes if it advances to the Caribbean World Series.

That round-robin event matches winter-league champs of the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela and will be held Feb. 1-7 in Hermosillo, Mexico.
