AA Frisco Stars Olt, Profar Headed To KC For Futures Game

Frisco teammates Mike Olt and Jurickson Profar will be on different sides of the field for the July 8 contest

It was announced today that the entire left side of the Double-A Frisco Roughriders’ infield is bound for Kansas City as members of the MLB All-Star Futures Game--but they’ll be on different sides of the field.

Third baseman Mike Olt and shortstop Jurickson Profar (pictured) are both headed for the Futures Game on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium, Olt as a member of the US Team and Profar as a member of the World Team.

Frisco manager (and former Ranger) Steve Buechele has been tabbed to manage the World Team.

This marks Profar’s second appearance in the Futures Game, equalling the number of appearances made by Texas’ current shortstop Elvis Andrus (one as a member of the Braves’ organization, one as a member of the Rangers’). The 19-year-old is hitting .295 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs through 68 games with Frisco.

Olt will be making his first appearance in the Futures Game, and, as of Thursday afternoon, is hitting .318 with 20 home runs (tied for 4th most in MILB) and 58 RBIs.
