With the Rangers' surprising season in the books, let's take a look at the season on a position-by-position basis.
2015 right fielder
The guy: Shin-Soo Choo
Shin-Soo Choo was the Rangers' everyday right fielder in 2015, and much like guys like Rougned Odor and Elvis Andrus, we took a lot of bad, but we also got a whole lot of good.
Over the Rangers' first half, Choo played in 80 games and hit .221 with a .305 on-base percentage. In fact, in April, he hit .096. This all while making $14 million a year — a number that is set to jump to $20 million in 2016. He struck out 84 times and walked 32 times in those 80 games.
Then, Choo became the player the Rangers gave $120 million to over the second half.
In those 69 games, Choo hit .343 with a .455 on-base percentage and .560 slugging percentage. He finished the year with 22 homers and 82 RBIs and he carried the Rangers offense in September and October, earning AL Player of the Month honors for the season's final month after he hit .387 with a .500 on-base percentage, six homers and 23 RBIs with 24 walks in those games.
Overall, due to the extreme polar opposites, we'll give Choo a season grade of B, but the second half was a definite A+.
