Texas Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz has a bruised shin after being hit by a line drive during a round of live batting practice.
X-rays were negative after the accident on Sunday morning. The AL Rookie of the Year was carted off the field as a precaution.
Feliz was struck on the left shin by a liner from Craig Gentry during his regular throwing session. Feliz was down on the ground for a couple of minutes before walking to a nearby cart.
Feliz posted 40 saves last season and is now trying to move from the closer's role into the Rangers' starting rotation this year. He threw two scoreless innings Thursday against Cleveland and is scheduled to pitch again on Wednesday.
