“X-Men: First Class” Writer Jane Goldman Penning “Miss Peregrine's” for Tim Burton

Jane Goldman, who helped revitalize the nearly-moribund "X-Men" franchise, has been hired to adapt a popular super-creepy children's story for--wait, see if you can guess...

Goldman will write the screenplay for "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children,"about a group of children with mysterious powers who are hidden away from the world in an old house on an island in the middle of nowhere, reported Deadline. The film will likely be directed by Tim Burton.

Here's a trailer for the book, you can see why Burton would be excited.

One wonders what Burton might do with a story like that.

Goldman's been on something of a hot streak of late, having written the brilliant "Kick-Ass," the script-deserved-better "The Debt," and "First Class," which managed to make us forget about "X-Men 3." Her next film is the Daniel Radcliffe starrer "The Woman in Black," which doesn't exactly inspire confidence
