Tribeca Film Festival Takes It Outside

The Tribeca Film Festival announced today that they will be kicking off their 10th annual event with a free outdoor screening and concert.

Cameron Crowe's documentary "The Union" - which gains unprecedented access to music legend Elton John as he puts together a collaborative album alongside Leon Russell and T-Bone Burnett - has been chosen as the premiere film, and John himself will be on hand to perform afterwards.

The outdoor event will take over the World Financial Plaza in lower Manhattan on April 20th.

Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal calls the outdoor event "an extraordinary gift to our Festival and more specifically the downtown community."

The Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 20th through May 1st.
