Woodson: Either Dez or DeMarco Will Get Franchise Tag

The Cowboys are in the unenviable position of trying to bring back both Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray this offseason

Longtime Cowboys safety Darren Woodson doesn’t envy the position his old team is in with regards to DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant.

Murray and Bryant are headed to free agency this offseason and the Cowboys want to bring both back, for obvious reasons, in 2015. Considering, Woodson believes it’s inevitable that one of the two will receive the franchise tag.

“You know what, I’d hate to be a GM in this situation knowing you have Dez and DeMarco,” Woodson said, per the Dallas Morning News. “One of the two is going to get the franchise tag. I don’t know which one it is. But I’d like to see them keep the core guys they have.

“They have a talented offensive line right now. They have two lights out skill position guys in Dez on the outside who can take the top off of every defense and then offensively you have a workhorse in DeMarco Murray. What was it, 1,845 this year in rushing yards and 13 touchdowns? You know this guy can carry the load. And he wants the ball. And he’s a young player right now.”
