Witten Looking Forward To Date With “The Champs”

Dallas will open the 2012 season against the Giants at MetLife Stadium on September 5

As he works under Jason Garrett, Cowboys’ tight end Jason Witten is most likely focused on having a solid offseason of workouts at the moment, as we’re still around four and a half months away from the regular season; but he can’t help but think about the September 5 season opener with the Giants at MetLife Stadium.

It’s not hard to understand why his mind would be on the Giants, as they’re the team who stole the division out from under the Cowboys over the last month of the 2011 season, eventually ending Dallas’s season on New Year’s Day and going on to win the Super Bowl.

It’s hard to get past that first one, I know that,” Witten said recently, per ESPN Dallas. “You look at the way the [2011] season ended, it couldn’t be a better game to get back up there quickly. There’s no better way to start off than with the champs.”
