Ware Sets Franchise Sack Record

After sacking the Redskins’ Rex Grossman twice on Sunday, Cowboys’ linebacker DeMarcus Ware set a franchise record with five consecutive seasons with a double digit sack total.

Ware came into Sunday’s game with 9.5 sacks, and now has 11.5 on the year, which isn’t all that bad considering that many believe 2010 to be a sort of down year for Ware, at least insofar as sack totals are concerned. He is the first player to accomplish five consecutive seasons with double digit sacks since Simeon Rice did it between 2001 and 2005.

I think the main thing is being consistent,” said Ware, per ESPN Dallas. “I harp on that and if I can do that every year, that’s a big accomplishment. But I’m looking forward to next week and Arizona and trying to get more. I always try to get pressure.”

Sunday marked Ware’s first multi-sack game since week five against Tennessee. His 16 career multi-sack games are just three off the franchise record shared by Greg Ellis and Jim Jeffcoat.
