Ware Ranks 12 on NFL Network's “Top 100”, Thinks He Should've Been Higher

Few would argue that the Dallas Cowboys DeMarcus Ware is among the best defensive players in the league. He has more sacks than anyone since 2005 and has led the league in this category in two of the past three seasons (2008, 2010). Really, a pretty solid argument could be made for his being the most dominant defensive player in the game--but that’s not quite how the NFL Network’s “Top 100 of 2011” list has it.

According to the ranking, Ware is the 12th best player in the game today. The top ten has yet to be revealed, but in all likelihood, Ray Lewis, Julius Peppers and Ed Reed will all be defensive players ahead of Ware in the rankings.

We’ll reserve judgment on the ranking for now, but Ware joked just after the his position on the list was announced that, if he had the opportunity, he would’ve changed a few things around.

“You know, I think I should be the number one guy on the list,” Ware quipped on Sunday night on the NFL Network. “But at the end of the day, people are going to vote you where they think you should be.”
