Victoria Man Wins Season Tickets In Dallas Cowboys Scratch-Off Game

For one resident of Victoria, Texas, the third second-chance drawing for the Texas Lottery's Dallas Cowboys Scratch-Off game proved to be a charm.

The first and second time Richard N. Thompson won a prize in the scratch-off game's second chance drawings weren't bad either, of course--he won an autographed Dez Bryant jersey and a $100 gift card for NFL Shop last year. The third time the game paid out for Thompson, however, he scored a pair of season tickets for the Cowboys’ 2011 season.

"Have you ever heard of something like that?" he asked the Victoria Advocate. "It's cool. Pretty cool.

"They mailed me a form of what I won and it said, 'Congratulations, you have won a pair of season tickets. It was dated Feb. 8, my birthday. I'll take it. Happy birthday, right?"

Now, Thompson, a lifelong fan of the Cowboys, has an increased stake in whether or not the owners and players’ union can strike an agreement on a new CBA, thereby allowing the 2011 season to play out as planned. The 57-year-old Victoria resident, who has sons in Austin and Tulsa, is holding out hope that there is a football season to go along with his season tickets.

"I'd hate to win this and then see them go on strike or something," he said with a laugh.
