Victor Butler, Last Remaining Member of 2009 Draft Class, Signs With Saints

The deal will reunite Butler with Rob Ryan, who is taking over the Saints defense in 2013

The Dallas Cowboys officially have nothing to show for a historically bad 2009 draft class.

The last remaining member of that class, linebacker Victor Butler, has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Saints, the team announced on Thursday. Butler will reunite with former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in the Big Easy, a man who was always outspokenly high on Butler in Dallas.

The Cowboys had 12 draft picks back in 2009, and as Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News points out, seven of them aren’t even in the NFL anymore. Butler was among the two best members of the class, along with tight end John Phillips, who departed for the San Diego Chargers in free agency this offseason.
