UNC's Cooper Hopes He Won't Fall to 18

UNC guard Jonathan Cooper would love to be a Cowboy but he hopes he's not around by the time Dallas picks at 18

The Dallas Cowboys would love to bring North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper into the fold with their first round (18th overall) pick in this week’s 2013 NFL Draft. But pretty much every expert believes that Cooper won’t be there by that point.

Cooper hopes those guys are right.

“I probably wouldn’t like to fall that far,” Cooper laughed, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “But if they want to come up and get me, that would be exciting that I meant that much to them, that I was a good enough player for them to do that.”

Indeed, Cooper would love to be a Cowboy. After the team visited him in Chapel Hill, and he visited Dallas, Cooper came away by the sheer magnitude of being a Dallas Cowboy.

“It was almost like the professional version of Alabama,” Cooper said. “You could see tradition, and the stadium is unreal. Dallas is huge. I met with Jerry Jones, and that was pretty cool. It was a great trip.”
