Tony Romo Set for First Full Offseason Since 2012

Romo was held out of the offseason program in each of the last two years with back issues

In 2013, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had surgery to remove a cyst from his back, a procedure that kept him out of the team’s offseason program. He missed last year’s offseason program after undergoing yet another back procedure, this time to repair a herniated disk.

This means this year will mark the first time since 2012 that Romo will be have a true offseason to prepare.

“He’s worked very hard to come back from some injuries that he’s had and handled himself really well once the season started to play as much football as he has coming of those injuries,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told the team’s website.

The Cowboys can open their offseason conditioning program on April 20.

“Yeah, the first time in a couple of years that he’s been able to go through the offseason program,” Garrett said of Romo. “I think that will really help him.”
