Three Phases: Cowboys-Eagles

Every week, we'll grade the Cowboys on the three phases of the weekend's game.

Offense: C-

The only reason this grade isn't failing is because the Cowboys were playing without their most dangerous offensive player and lost their quarterback. The bad thing about that, of course, is that they're going to be without both of those players for a very long time, so there's no time to sulk. On the bright side, Brandon Weeden was a perfect 7-for-7 and threw the lone offensive touchdown of the day to Terrance Williams. On the bad side, there were a ton of penalties they somehow overcame.

Defense: A+

There really isn't much more you could ask from for a unit missing it's best cornerback for the year, it's stud rookie pass-rusher for a while and it's stud free agent pass-rusher for another couple of games, but the Cowboys thoroughly dominated the Chip Kelly show in Philly. In the end, the Eagles had just 226 total yards (21 in the first half), including only 7 on the ground. The Cowboys held former teammate and reigning NFL rushing champ to 2 yards on 13 carries and picked off Sam Bradford twice, including a touchdown-saving pick from Sean Lee, who also had 14 tackles.

Special teams: A+

Kyle Wilber returned an Eagles punt blocked by Danny McCray for a touchdown to put the Cowboys up 13-0 in the beginning of the second half. Chris Jones was a weapon at punter, finishing the day with six punts with an average of 52.5 yards per punt. Two of them were downed inside the 20-yard line and a third would've been downed inside the 1-yard line if not for a bonehead mistake by Jeff Heath. Dan Bailey connected on two extra-point attempts and two field goals.
