The Picks: Cowboys vs. Eagles

It’s that time of week. Time to man up and make your pick for Sunday’s game. Get it right, and you are playoff Svengali. You’ll go on ESPN and host an insufferable segment called the Two Minute Drill, when you call yourself The Schwam and always pick Buffalo to win. And you’ll constantly replay old TV highlight of yourself. You’ll think of horrible nicknames for players and make constant references to Eagles songs that no one listens to anymore. You’ll be all but insufferable. Get it wrong, and you’ll remain somewhat tolerable. Here we go:

Scott Crisp: Cowboys 27, Eagles 20

Josh Alper: Cowboys 24, Eagles 17

Damon Hack: Cowboys 23, Eagles 13. “It's hard to imagine the Eagles playing a worse game than they did in Week 17, but it's even harder to see them returning to Dallas in such a quick turnaround and winning this game. Styles make fights, and the Cowboys match up well in most areas against the Eagles, especially offensively, where Romo has limited his turnovers and played steady against a heavy rush." Yep, that about covers it.

Bill Simmons: Not in yet. Nor is Peter King’s. TRUANTS!

Eight of 10 ESPN Experts: Cowboys. Here’s something weird: All 10 ESPN experts picked the Packers. Really? On the road? Against a fully armed and operational Kurt Warner? I’m not saying the Cards will win, I’m just saying balance is needed, people.

Pete Prisco (CBS): Cowboys.

Andy (Cowboys fan I know): Cowboys 24, Eagles 0. “They spat on the star, then talked trash. All after losing a game 24-0! Who does that? Are they insane? I’m shocked that whole team hasn’t been struck by lightning yet.”)

Index Card I Threw Up In The Air With The Name Of Each Team On Either Side, Seeing Which Team Would Land Face Up: Cowboys. (Index Card record: 7-7)

The Wife: Cowboys.

Me: The Cowboys seem to be a consensus pick here, which would normally call for a CONTRARIAN ALERT. However, it’s hard to go against the grain here when I know, from the last two meetings, that the Cowboys are BETTER than Eagles. There’s no doubt in my mind about that. Cowboys 28, Eagles 20. Hello, Minnesota.
