Cowboys Sign Suisham, Release Folk

Cowboys faithful have been calling for a new kicker, and now they have one.

Shaun Suisham tried out with the Cowboys on Monday, and the Dallas Cowboys confirm he got the job and Nick Folk was released from the team.

Coach Wade Phillips wouldn't specify which or how many kickers the club brought in to tryout for Folk's spot.

Suisham, cut from the Washington Redskins earlier this month, will play his first game with a star on his helmet against the Redskins on Sunday.

In 12 games as a Redskin this season, Suisham made 18 of 21 field goal attempts. Suisham had a 13 consecutive field goal streak this season before his first miss against the Cowboys from 29 yards.

It's not Suisham's first time in blue, he kicked for Dallas twice in the past, in 2005 (3 games, 3 of 4 on field goals) and 2006 (3 games, 1 of 2 on field goals).

The Cowboys confirmed Folk was released. Folk led the NFL with 10 misses, going 18 of 28, with a big miss coming in Saturday's game against the Saints.

Folk clanged the upright on an easy 24-yarder that would have put away Saturday night's 24-17 victory against the unbeaten Saints.
