Stephen Jones on Playoff Hopes: Cowboys “Have As Good A Chance As Anybody”

The Cowboys executive VP remains fairly optimistic about the 2012 season

A crushing Thanksgiving Day loss to the Washington apparently couldn’t do too much to damper the spirits of Cowboys’ executive vice president Stephen Jones.

To the impartial observer, it’d seem that the Cowboys are just about out of it--maybe not statistically, but the team’s performances over the year don’t exactly inspire confidence. But not so, says Jones. He was asked in his weekly appearance on 105.3-FM “The Fan” if he felt the playoffs were still being considered a viable possibility around Valley Ranch.

Absolutely,” Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. “We’ve got just as good a chance as anybody else. We are just a game out of the Wild Card, two games out of the division lead. We are going to fight and play hard. We have played a lot of these good teams. Feel like on any given Sunday we can play with them.”

Fair enough, but “playing with them” hasn’t really been the problem this season. It’s been that “winning” thing that’s eluded these Cowboys.
