Spencer To Have Surgery, Miss Three Weeks

Anthony Spencer has been dealing with a bone bruise on his left knee

Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer will miss the next three weeks after team doctors determined that his left knee would require arthroscopic surgery, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Spencer participated in the first practice session of training camp on Sunday, but had to leave early when the knee began to bother him. A subsequent MRI revealed that Spencer had a bone bruise on the knee. He will undergo surgery sometime later this week.

This means Spencer, who finished with a double-digit sack total for the first time in his career (and made his first Pro Bowl) in 2012, is done for training camp. By the time he returns, Dallas will already be getting into the meat of their preseason schedule.
