Sims, Dunbar Throw Down in Oxnard

Dallas had their first training camp fight on Tuesday

The Dallas Cowboys had their first fight of the training camp on Tuesday.

The combatants? Linebacker Ernie Sims and running back Lance Dunbar. Sims says he threw Dunbar to the ground after the whistle. Dunbar got to his feet and came back at the veteran linebacker, and just like that, Dallas had the obligatory first training camp fight behind them.

"It’s training camp," Sims said, per the Dallas Morning News. "That’s the reason I ask my wife to come out here so I can re-see my wife so I don’t have to see these men all the time.

"You get tired of that after awhile, the running, people yelling at you. It’s just the way it is."

Sims told reporters that he didn’t hold a grudge toward Dunbar over the way he reacted.

“What Dunbar did, I’m not mad at him for doing that,’’ Sims said. “It’s like two males in the wild. A male comes and strikes at you, you’re going to strike back.

“We’re playing football. Me, I look at it as animals in the wild. It’s domination. That’s what it’s all about."
