Dallas Cowboys’ secondary coach Jerome Henderson was brought over from Cleveland by departed defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, so when Ryan was canned, it stood to reason that Henderson was in a bit of a precarious position. New defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin is free to put his own staff together, after all.
But after interviewing with Kiffin this week, Henderson is staying put.
Indeed, the Cowboys seem to be pretty high on Henderson. As David Moore of the Dallas Morning News points out today, several teams sought the team’s permission to interview him following the aforementioned canning of Ryan, but were flatly denied by Dallas.
While dealing with a slew of injuries throughout the defense, the Cowboys finished 14th in pass defense in 2012. As for the secondary alone, they lost starting safety Barry Church for the season to an Achilles tear in week three, and slot corner Orlando Scandrick suffered a season-ending hand fracture on Thanksgiving Day.
