Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee isn’t exactly happy he’s not participating in OTAs this offseason, but he knows it’s ultimately for the best. Ditto for the clean-up surgery on his left knee, the recovery from which is currently keeping Lee off the field.
Basically, coming off the first Pro Bowl season of his career, Lee is willing to sit out now in hopes of staying on the field, uninterrupted by injury or workload concerns, come fall.
"Better to get it out of the way now," Lee said, per Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "It felt great last year and I think it can even feel better this season. I think its going to help me handle more of a load next season."
Lee finished 2015 with 128 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception in 14 games. The knee issue popped up after the season, causing Lee to take action, and go under the knife.
"You were starting to manage your work load more than you want to," Lee said. "I want to be out there at every practice and work as much as possible. This will help me."
