Sean Lee Excited to Work Under Marinelli

Rod Marinelli was promoted from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator earlier this offseason

Dallas Cowboys middle linebacker Sean Lee is excited to work under Rod Marinelli, who was promoted from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator earlier this offseason.

I think it’ll be a similar base,” Lee said of the change in systems, per ESPN Dallas. “Both coaches (Marinelli and Monte Kiffin) are fantastic coaches. I think the issue is the players finding a way to play better within the scheme, being more consistent, being perfect with our technique, and playing with consistency. Those are things we didn’t do at all last year.”

In 2013, the first year in Dallas for both Marinelli and Kiffin, the defense suffered a rash of costly injuries and finished dead last in the NFL. Marinelli has drawn praise from just about all his players in his short time here, and Lee is no exception.

“Unbelievable motivator, great person, great coach,” Lee said. “I’m excited to play for him as our coordinator. He’s going to be great. I’m excited coach Kiffin is going to be involved, too. I have a great relationship with (linebackers) coach (Matt) Eberflus, who has made me a better player. Having all those guys will be great.”
