Ryan Making No Excuses For Recent Defensive Struggles

Rob Ryan's defense has allowed 38 points in each of their last two games

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has allowed 38 points in each of their last two games. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn’t think this is acceptable, nor will he attempt to try to explain it away. According to Ryan, the unit just has to be better--and, he says, that starts with him.

Oh, yeah, there’s no question,” Ryan said today, per ESPN Dallas. “I was beat down every way you can be beaten. … When teams are running the ball on you and throwing it with success, it’s not fun to be a defensive coordinator.”

The defense’s recent struggles spark a mission that starts this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, a game Dallas will play with their playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

“This is a great opportunity for us,” Ryan said. “We know it’s a huge game. We’re excited about it.”
