Rossum: “It Feels Good To Be Back”

Allen Rossum has returned to the NFL, and in doing so, returned to his native Dallas.

Somewhat ironically, the move that would ultimately send Rossum back to his hometown (read: his release from San Francisco) was perpetrated in order to make room for another Dallasite, longtime hold-out, and first round draft pick, Michael Crabtree.

Dallas signed Rossum officially today, bringing the 33 year-old back to North Texas in order to shore up returning duties, reuniting him with coach Joe DeCamillis, who spent five years with Rossum in Atlanta. The Skyline High alum insists he has plenty left to give, and he is confident that this familiarity will make the transition all the more smooth.

"I'm familiar with the coaching staff and the scheme," Rossum said today shortly after signing. "I think an entire team works together from the concepts of the coaches and the organization, and they put it together out on the field. "I'm just a piece, man, I'm not the entire solution. But I know that I'm going to continue to work hard, I'm going to give it everything I've got on the practice field, and even more out in the game."

Rossum continued that, like most kids growing up in Dallas in the mid-nineties, donning the blue and silver of the Cowboys was a dream.

"It feels good to be back. It took me twelve years to get back since I officially left. It feels good, having an opportunity to play for the home team," Rossum said. "It's something I dreamed of as a young kid, playing at Skyline High School, so, this is awesome and I'm looking forward to the opportunity."
