Ronald Leary Headed to PUP List

Leary suffered a hamstring injury while running last week at Valley Ranch

Cowboys guard Ronald Leary is headed to the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list to begin camp, after suffering a hamstring injury while doing a conditioning run at Valley Ranch last week.

The Cowboys also placed defensive end Anthony Spencer on the PUP list, a move that seemingly everyone knew was coming. Spencer is still recovering from microfracture surgery on his knee last September. Unlike Leary, there’s a good chance Spencer will begin the season on the PUP list. If he does, he’ll be obliged by league rules to stay there for three to six weeks before he’ll be eligible to come off.

Leary, whose time-table is shorter than that of Spencer, will be eligible to come off the PUP as soon as he’s healthy enough to do so. The third-year guard will then resume a position battle for the starting left guard job with Mackenzy Bernadeau.
