Romo Says He'll “Probably” Sit Out Against Chargers

Tony Romo has been easing back into action as he continues to rehab his back

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo confirmed over the weekend that he’ll probably sit out  of the team’s preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday.

“We’re talking about it, but most likely I’ll probably sit out the San Diego game and play in Game 2 and go from there,” Romo said on Sunday, per ESPN Dallas.

The coaching staff has been careful in bringing back their franchise quarterback, after he had back surgery--his second in an eight-month span--in December. Romo has had scheduled days off through the first couple weeks of camp, and apparently, Dallas plans on continuing with this approach.

"I’ll probably practice tomorrow and sit out Tuesday if we keep going with the schedule we’ve been doing,” Romo said. “Maybe sit tomorrow and come back Tuesday but we’ll see what they say.”
