Romo Makes History With TD Strike to Witten

Tony Romo is now the Cowboys' all-time leading passer

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has found Jason Witten 628 times in his career to this point, and Sunday just might have seen the biggest of all these connections.

In the third quarter of the Cowboys’ division-clinching, 42-7 victory over the Colts on Sunday, Romo found Witten on a seam route for a 25-yard touchdown. With that pass, he overtook Troy Aikman to become the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards.

The moment was made all the more special, because Witten was on the receiving end.

“I think right now it’s still too new, but looking back one day it will be special because me and Jason have been through it all together,” Romo said, per ESPN Dallas. “We literally were on the same bus from the airport when we arrived in Dallas for our first rookie minicamp. He obviously has a special place in my heart and I want more success for him than maybe anybody on the planet. He deserves it and I want him to have it.

“For him to be the guy is just a bonus. He has done it throughout his career.”
