Retired Redskin London Fletcher Takes Shot at Romo

Fletcher retired from football after the Redskins' 3-13 campaign in 2013

On Thursday morning, NFL Network’s NFL AM posted a photo of Tony Romo and Tiger Woods golfing together to their Twitter page--this in honor of the opening round of The Masters--and asked fans to caption the photo. Recently retired Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher took this as an opportunity to take a pot shot at his old NFC East foe.

In response to the photo--which shows Woods and Romo carefully measuring a shot--Fletcher suggested the caption: "why is he taking all this time just to choke?”

Hoho! Looks like someone’s after David Letterman’s soon to be vacant seat at The Late Show.

Or, as Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News points out, this could just be a case of sour grapes.

Fletcher’s long and decorated career came to an unceremonious end last year, as the Redskins went 3-13 and were swept in the season series by Romo and the Cowboys. In his last home game, a 24-23 loss to Dallas, Romo played through what turned out to be a season-ending back injury to lead the Cowboys on a game-winning, fourth quarter drive, capped by a 10-yard touchdown pass from Romo to DeMarco Murray with just 10 seconds left--pretty much the opposite of a choke job.
