Report: Will McClay Not Looking to Leave Dallas for a GM Job

McClay has been the senior director of college and pro personnel since last year

Dallas Cowboys senior director of college and pro personnel Will McClay is already drawing interest as a potential general manager candidate around the league, but according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, he has no intention of leaving Dallas.

“I signed a deal last year and want to honor the commitment I made to the Cowboys and my family,” McClay said recently.

Already, McClay has taken his name out of consideration for the Detroit Lions’ GM search, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

McClay, a former head coach of the Dallas Desperados, was only given the above title this year. In 2014, he was called the assistant director of player personnel and, before that, director of football research. But by any name, he’s developed a reputation as one of the brighter young front office minds in the league, who has helped rebuild the Cowboys of recent with a renewed commitment to the offensive line.
