Report: Romo Passed On FOX Sports 1 Ad

Tony Romo was reportedly supposed to star in a 90-second promo for FOX's new network

FOX will reportedly air a 90-second promo for their new network, FOX Sports 1--which is supposed to compete with ESPN for cable sports supremacy--in the middle of Tuesday night’s MLB All-Star Game.

Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News tells us that they wanted to get Tony Romo in on the action, but Dallas was not on the list of the six shooting locations across the country at which FOX shot the ad over a 10-day period--and since he was recuperating from surgery to remove a cyst from his back, Romo opted against making the trip to take part in the ad.

“We decided we wanted to focus on players,” said FOX Sports marketing head Robert Gottlieb, in response to a question about whether Jerry Jones had been considered, per the Dallas Morning News. “We thought about DeMarcus Ware, but he couldn’t fit into our tight shooting window.”

According to Horn and the Morning News, Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco took Romo’s spot in the ad.
