Report: Rob Ryan Met With Rams Last Week

Ryan was fired after two seasons with the Cowboys earlier this month

The first time reports surfaced indicating that ousted Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan would be signed as the new defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams, Ryan refuted the reports via phone, saying that he was still on vacation out of the country (Turks and Caicos to be exact).

Now, Ryan is back stateside, and ESPN Dallas has reported that he finally met with those Rams on Friday.

As the ESPN report mentions, Jeff Fisher has some history with the Ryan family, having both played and coached under Ryan’s father, the legendary Buddy Ryan.

In two seasons with the Cowboys, Ryan saw the team go 16-16, with no playoff appearances. In 2012, what would turn out to be his final season in Dallas, Ryan’s unit finished 14th in total defense and 24th in scoring defense. At the time of his firing, Ryan had a year left on a three-year deal.
