Report: Monte Kiffin Won't Return Next Season

Kiffin has spent the past two seasons with the Cowboys

Monte Kiffin will not return for a third season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.

Kiffin came to the Cowboys as defensive coordinator in 2013, a historically bad year for the Dallas defense. Last year, Rod Marinelli took over as coordinator and Kiffin moved into an assistant role, with the kind of strange official title of assistant head coach/defense. His contract expired after this season.

According to a source cited in the report, Kiffin would like to continue coaching.

The 28-year veteran of the NFL will turn 75 this month.
