Report: Cowboys Visit Georgia QB Aaron Murray

A number of Cowboys staffers, including QBs coach Wade Wilson, are in Athens, GA today

Having signed Brandon Weeden just about a month ago, the Dallas Cowboys have three quarterbacks on the roster--Weeden, Kyle Orton and, of course, Tony Romo--but that won’t stop them from making sure all their bases are covered going into next month’s NFL Draft.

A contingent of Cowboys staffers, including quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson are in Athens, GA today to look at (and meet with) former Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray.

As Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas points out, the team had a similar meeting with Weeden when he was coming out of Oklahoma State. They very predictably didn’t draft him--he went to the Browns with the 22nd overall pick in 2012--but the meeting helped their decision to bring him in when he was released by Cleveland last month.

Murray is projected to be a mid- to late-round selection, but Super Bowl winning head coach turned ESPN analyst Jon Gruden believes he could be “the steal for somebody” in this year’s draft.
