Report: Anthony Spencer Visiting Saints

Spencer was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2007 Draft

It looks like free agent defensive end/linebacker Anthony Spencer could be on his way out of Dallas.

According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, Spencer will head to New Orleans on Tuesday to visit the Saints. If he winds up in the Big Easy, he will be reunited with former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, under whom Spencer went to a Pro Bowl--the only of his career to this point--in 2012.

Dallas picked Spencer 26th overall out of Purdue back in 2007. He became a starter in 2009, and had a few solid but not outstanding seasons before really breaking out in the aforementioned 2012 season, when he led the Cowboys with 95 tackles and had 11 sacks.

In 2013, he appeared in just one game before undergoing microfracture surgery on his knee, a very serious procedure that kept him out through the first three games of last year. He finished 2014 with 22 tackles, a half sack and a forced fumble while appearing in 13 regular season games as well as both of the team’s playoff games.
