Randle Feels He's Earned Trust of Cowboys Staff

Joseph Randle's role figures to grow dramatically this season in the absence of DeMarco Murray

Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle told reporters this week that he believes he’s done enough to earn the trust of Jason Garrett and the Cowboys coaching staff after a turbulent period between October and February that saw Randle in trouble with the law twice.

You’ll have to ask coach that,” Randle said, per Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN Dallas. “In my eyes, I feel like I’ve done the things necessary to earn trust, but you’ll have to ask them and figure out what they think because what I think and what they think can be two different things.”

In October, Randle was arrested for shoplifting a pack of underwear and a tester bottle of cologne from a shopping mall in Frisco. In January, he was involved in a domestic dispute in a hotel room in Wichita, KS, but no charges were ultimately filed against the third-year back.

Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said this week that the team is completely confident in Randle going into the season opener.

“What he’s doing in practice, what he’s done in training camp makes us feel 100 percent confident he’s prepared for this,” Linehan said. “The great thing for him, Darren [McFadden] and Lance [Dunbar] is they have a big opportunity to go out and prove what they’re capable of doing.”
