Potential Target: Josh Norman

In an ongoing thread of posts, we'll discuss potential free agent targets for the Dallas Cowboys coming off a 4-12 season, thanks in large part to several key injuries.

Target: Josh Norman, CB

2015 stats: 56 tackles, 18 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, 2 touchdowns in regular season

Norman is pretty much universally known as the best shutdown cornerback in football now, with all apologies to Richard Sherman. He isn't tested often but when he is, he usually wins — see the deflections and interceptions, two of which were brought back to the house.

Norman made a habit in 2015 of shutting down the top receivers in the league — Dez Bryant, Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, and the list goes on.

The Cowboys need to do something at cornerback. It's not that Brandon Carr has been awful and the same goes for Mo Claiborne, but they aren't playmakers, and that's exactly what Norman is. Now, do the Panthers let Norman hit the market? Most likely not, as they could use their franchise tag on him or lock him up to a deal, but he's definitely the gold standard in free agent cornerbacks this offseason.
